The Above Ground Subway has been estimated in the New York press to cost as much as $125-million.
And for what?
DOT's answer: To reduce bus travel times and encourage bus ridership.
Yet other DOT's street changes INCREASED travel times on other Midtown routes, as reported in The New York Times.
DOT's answer? It really doesn’t matter because few people take the buses the length of their routes.
Then how much time will people save while traveling only parts of 34th Street?
As one Midtown resident says: "I travel between Second and Sixth Avenues all the time to get to work and it's never a problem!"
